Pipeline Integrity Project Manager

Metalogic Inspection Services is currently seeking a Pipeline Integrity Project Manager to join our team in our Edmonton office. This position ensures effective safe execution of work to minimize cost, drive productivity, and maximize quality assurance and to promote a high level of customer satisfaction in accordance with expectations and goals of Metalogic Inspection Services.

Reporting to the Pipeline Integrity Manager, the Pipeline Integrity Project Manager is responsible for directly managing field-based teams at client worksites and supervising all site activities pertaining to the delivery of maintenance services.

The Pipeline Integrity Project Manager performs some or all the following duties:

Key Responsibility #1: Safety

  • Ensure all safety procedures and processes are being followed with the goal of zero injury.
  • Work safely and follow all rules and procedures.
  • Understand and adhere to and promote the Metalogic safety culture/environment including behaviour based safety.
  • Attend and participate in all safety meetings as required.
  • Complete all required safety orientation and/or training.

Key Responsibility #2: Project Management

  • Responsible for the project management and service delivery oversight of conventional and advanced NDT technology and services.
  • Ensure that the workforce is adequately trained with pipeline specific requirements.
  • Work closely with the Director, Operations and other business lines within the Operations department to communicate project resource, equipment, scope and coordination needs.
  • Support the Pipeline Integrity Manager in forecasting equipment and personnel needs.
  • Responsible for all reports, interpretation and evaluations on client sites.
  • Responsible for auditing all inspections, repairs and potential rework on client sites.
  • Provide any necessary field support to the technical team in order to ensure operational excellence and continual process improvement.
  • Track asset usage in collaboration with the Asset Manager / Procurement.
  • Monitor and enforce all compliance requirements for pipeline integrity project sites.
  • In collaboration with management, take accountability for the effectiveness and continual improvement of the Quality Management system.
  • Lead onsite software implementation and provide feedback to the IT team on potential enhancements.
  • Complete technical reporting on project status as required by the Pipeline Integrity Manager.
  • Complete periodic audits to ensure all technicians understand changing hazards based on weather, soil and trench conditions.
  • Identify the need for supplies and equipment based on project requirements, and coordinate delivery logistics with the Asset Manager / Procurement.
  • Responsible for calibration and routine inspection of equipment.

Key Responsibility #3: Employee Leadership

  • Manage and escalate employee relation issues in the business line in accordance with accepted HR practices and policies including performance.
  • Complete performance reviews and manage employee conduct in the workplace through coaching and mentoring of field staff.
  • Responsible for overall supervision of pipeline integrity site based team including technicians, Subject Matter Experts, and project admin.
  • Review and approve time sheets, expenses, LEMs for all direct reports.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and OHS Manager to ensure training has been completed and certifications are up to date for field staff.
  • Support the resolution of any client complaints.
  • Tailor execution strategies and use of inspection technologies to each client’s unique requirements and adherence to standards.

Key Responsibility #4: Client Service

  • Liaise with clients on job site requirements.
  • Engage closely with clients’ production, engineering, QA and safety teams to develop effective execution plans focused on pipeline integrity programs and schedules.

  • 5 or more years of progressive industry experience with pipeline integrity projects
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently
  • Effective interpersonal skills and leadership skills
  • Strong work ethic and desire for advancement
  • Basic understanding of ISO 9001 quality management
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Committed to quality, safety and the environment
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word)


  • Customer engagement – Attend a weekly meeting with the key customer contact at the facility. Measured as a minimum of 44 meetings per year (accounting for vacations)
  • Ensure report review is conducted for all new employees to the site (100% review for the first month) and audit and review 10% of all reports for the site are conducted.
  • Conduct weekly safety meetings and Daily toolbox talks with the crew – Document through reporting Software.
